    So, Projectors!
Finally we can make Kinetic weapons systems that are actually feasible, eg. can be used without sacrificing maneuverability, having to spend lots of time building ammunition and going back to base to re-arm.
This ship is just build around the idea, it is not meant for usage outside creative, seeing that it lacks defense (armor and turret) plus proper conveyor system and cargo.

yes, similar to the torp launcher they posted in the update vid. very cool stuff!
That's quite a lot of damage and hard to defend against.

Exactly, hard to defend against, one because of the range and two because (afaik) turrets won't attack heavy armor, meaning that a solid heavy-armor projectile will have to manually shot down or avoided, to be defended against.

The hardest part of making torps work in survival is power; they need something to keep the artificial mass going during launch. But it's vastly better than anything we've had before.

not that I'm trying to give away military secrets, but try tying the torpedo into either a merge block or a connector. Batteries are optional, but you only need the Mass Blocks to stay on for a split second when firing... as long as you have enough G forces pushing all at once. Heck even a piston with a timer block setup would get it moving and let it go without needing to have power to the torpedo... wait a sec, can't you detach the rotor head on rotors now?...

You don't need mass blocks, the whole point of this is that the ship accelerates, then simply lets go of the projectile, meaning you need to Grav gens and that you need no power in the projectile :)
Yes, you can detach and attach rotors manually now.

just slap a thruster on it, gravity shield won't deflect that.

and i think the "no shooting at armor" thing applies to friendly ships.. it should still target that warhead. the difficulty i mentioned was more that you need some serious defenses to obliterate heavy armor that's on full speed impact course. Unless you get lucky and the warhead goes off.

Again, the momentum of the ship is inherited :) It's already at full speed when launched, no acceleration required (so no power required).
Yes, they will target warheads, that's why i mentioned a solid projectile eg. no warheads, just heavy armor.
Even without warheads, a 19 ton projectile going 104 m/s will still do a lot of damage ;)
    *Edit*
Just did a test with a pure heavy-armor projectile, no warheads.
It made a 4 block deep, 4x5 hole in Light Armor (the target is only 4 blocks thick so may have gone deeper)
