I don't have Flash installed... Can't view it.

(In case some of you haven't realized it's 2015, go uninstall Flash and all Adobe's products.)

It's not a very nice thing to say about another country's language. Just let you know.

It seems like GoodAI is able to control the basic movement of an engineer... and learn that falling from a platform is not cool... neither clashing into walls...

Since GoodAI is able to play by "seeing" or better from visual feedback... I'm wondering if it plays on first or third person. The Cube view was strange because it wasn't neither first nor third... it looked like he knew everything but it didn't know how to interact or what to do.

In all seriousness now, the part of video with Marek (or Martin) seems to be mostly about AI and GoodAI.

Still, in the parts they show SE, they seem to be testing GoodAI's path finding in SE.

And it seems to show, a GoodAI SE bot "learning" that falling off the platform is bad and thus avoids it.

GoodAI doesn't necessarily "see" the screen like we do. It probabaly sees the world in terms of data, so technically it has omnidirectional vision. (Though it could be given a rule that it is not allowed to react to things behind it.)

Image processing is very complicated, while just registering that there is a wall ahead, a fatal drop to the left, and an enemy astronaut to the right gives the AI the data points it needs to come to a conclusion.

A major advantage here is that modded blocks and unusual color schemes wouldn't confuse it.

We are going to be reaping the benefits of GoodAI in SE and ME. We already do, to some extent. I can't wait to see how it advances.

Yeah, I just watched the video. When it's doing the 2d tests and playing Alleyway it's running image recognition, but in SE it's reading the grids as data and assigning some sort of values to different block types.

My thoughts exactly. If you don't have Flash, your the idiot, not the other way around.

Well, Flash sucks. Everytime my computer freezes its because some Flash plugin has been instantiated, and that's when it's not opening your PC to well-known exploits and problems, it's just bad tech. It worked for many years because it fulfilled its purpose in another era of computing, but it needs to go. HTML5 players work perfectly fine, and are tied into each browser directly, which means browser makers try to make it work right and safe.

While it may be an error to delete Flash right now, because there's still some support and is used in some places, it won't be long before it becomes an obsolete piece of junk, like IE has always been. Google Chrome dropped support for Flash a while ago, mobile systems (most of them) don't support Flash... Flash is the past, and on the way to die.

True enough. It is a tad frightening, but I'm going to try to enjoy it while the AI are still subservient to their human overlords.

I always suspected SE was created as a testing environment for AI. making a marketable game was just a clever way of funding the AI research.

Must I explain? Fine. Because Adobe is a bad company. They're unable to maintain their Flash software. They repeatedly failed to patch up security/exploit holes. They're not dependable. They're also CPU resources hog. Adobe only has interests in profit and other unrelated things. 3rd parties such as websites and such continue to use flash because people still have them installed. HTML5 is a better solution.
Let's not derail this thread with this topic though.

As for GoodAI... maybe it can't see like we do but it does need to have view-range to keep it fair, even though it knows a lot about the world, which is fine because we can call from memory, knowing where (physical object) things are, must be limited to view-range like how we see from our eyes. So it's possible to have a bot not able to see Sabroid hiding just around a corner. I'm already excited to get my hands on the AI software. I have AMD... waiting for their support on OpenCL instead of CUDA only.

Flash sucks, this is true. I'm pretty sure they also moved to discontinue it but all the websites relying on it whined loudly, iirc.

But everything else they've made is awesome. And likely powering the production of Space Engineers along with thousands of other games and movies past and present. So maybe don't trash the company as a whole. ;)

    I wouldn't go that far.

Space Engineers was probably just a convenient way of helping to market GoodAI in a new way.

I don't think he was defending flash. Everyone knows it's crap and it needs to go, but there are website still using it, and not minor one. The website should be the one removing flash, not the clientside user. I will remove it when it will be useless to me.

For what it's worth there are two sides to Adobe, the actual Adobe who made the good stuff that's now being endlessly recycled, and then there's Macromedia, creators of Flash, who bought out the company and changed their name.

I look forward to the day GoodAI figures out trolling.
