[01.032.14] [DediSrv] 1. Server Freeze , 2. MedBays doesn't work

    Hi,

    I launched the server on 64bit version, with console. Loaded my save game which was copied before ( only one folder inside saves/[steamID]/ ) .
    Everyone respawned in new spawnship. I opened SANDBOX_0_0_0_.sbs in notepad, searched my steamID, and there it was - my medbay. Everything seems fine but entityID, it have negative value, is it normal?
    We played several minutes, then we all have the "Host left the game" merry message ;/ In the console everything was normal, no messages, in log the same, as server was still running. I looked to windows task manager and dediserver process dropped its CPU usage to 0 , with ram still at 2 gigs level.

    We tried again and the story repeats. After welding again our medbays we spawned in new ships.
    After serveral minutes of normal gameplay again the "freeze/host left the game" thing happened.

    Anyone with similar problem ?

    Yes, almost exactly the same (both errors). This was on a friends only, steam group server.

    This happened to me on my server. I generated a brand new map to test the new dedicated server features and filled my server up with 20 people within 30 minutes. Eventually one of my buddies in my group died and ended up in a new respawn ship. We just thought it was a glitch until we all reconnected and ended up in new ships! We even tried destroying the med bay and rebuilding it. No success!

    I did not experience this "freeze/host left the game" problem though within the hour of playing.

    And also, not sure if this will help any kind of bug squashing but even loading it in a local game (Load world through the menu) the med bays still did not work.

    EDIT: Can't seem to duplicate the bug. I made a fresh map with the dedicated server tool and respawning was fine. Not sure what can cause the problem. On my original map I kept my same starting ship the whole time until later after tons of people joined it stopped working.

    Reverting to a traditional, player-hosted server, the same med room problem persists. The "Host has left the game" issue is not recurring, though.

    This is what I did with my bugged world also, problem still persists too.
    Although the new map I generated fixed the problem but still.

    I read on another forum post that if the game is saved with a standard server, it saves a body of the host. When dedicated server is ran, if the "astronaut" that was the host dies, it disconnects with host has left the game.

    With new SEToolbox, I'll try to delete all Astronaut entities and see what will happen. Feedback in 9 hours..

    I also tried this, not working, tired to remove all medical rooms from all stations and ships too... no luck, tried to set all medicals to steamuserid to 0 also not working. My next step will be to load and Empty world where its working shut it down and import everything to this word via import export no drag and drop... If anyone Get and leads on this love to know.

    Also game will crash if your don't remove host character from save... cause he stays in game. but now he joins the game so cant be in same place at same time. physics....

    Thanks for support in this one. I hope that devs will look into it.
    Please, let me know how the import idea will turn out. I'll test the deletion of old characters so if it will help with crashes it will be good news. Playing without medbays sux though..especially when I have respawn distance 70-100 km from asteroids

    I think that was the session. Medbays doesn't work, ended with "Host left the game" like server was blocked from players ( zero CPU usage also - looks like sort of freeze ).

    Had to shorten it, deleted some irrelevant lines I hope .

    No need, i have located the cause of the bug, did you guys change asteroids ? seem like it would be unrelated, but i remember thinking asteroids are the metric for radius or where respawnships spawn area is..... so seems if you bring in ones from last save it breaks medical bays. remove old asteroids from Save and they work again.... yes yes i know I will now import roids from a new dedicate server and test to see if dedicates are just broken or roids are doing it particularly

    Yes Confirmed old save file asteroids are broken now... have to create new save from dedicated and use those asteroids did you makes changes to functionality of these... but also haveing trouble getting them to add automatically too on creation of new server


    Side note you should add a tag so we can set respawn ship re-spawn area box... i think creating the area from the center mass of asteroids is bad cause if you want to locate asteroids all over instead in a field you re-spawn in the middle of distance from all of them very far if using bigger map

    Horizon Worlds has been teching this medbay issue as well. We can confirm that removal of asteroids from old maps will enable medbays to work correctly when that old map is hosted post patch. We did this test with one host and two pilots to confirm. We are now putting in new gen post patch roids in to test a final setup. Thanks again emachala from all of us at Horizon Worlds. You made us all very happy engis.

    Unless i'm missing something. Made a new dedicated map, ran it for an hour to find out its broken.

    Not sure about problems on a fresh dedi map.

    All we did was load an old prepatch map with nothing changed. Logged in two players and had them suicide to confirm that every time the player would spawn in a new taxi 9(med bays not working). Both player did repeated suicides and confirmed a new taxi each time the respawned.

    We took down the map, removed asteroids, rehosted and repeated the above test. This time, both players, upon suicide would spawn back at their med bay with no problems.

    Actually...the only thing I did was edit the name of my game by copying the dedi save file into the normal save directory so it showed up in my Load Game list via the menu. I then clicked edit and changed the name. Copied it back to the dedi save directory. May have something to do with it. I never actually loaded the map locally though, just change the name through the menu. Is there a different way to change the crappy display name "Created ######" instead of the way I did it?

    About 20 minutes ago I made 2 new dedicated server maps and deleted all asteroids from the first map and imported the asteroids from the second map into it. Once I finished doing that I loaded the game up and medbays didn't work again. Not sure what is going on there.

    Is SEtoolbox messing something up? Because every game that has bugged out I've re-saved with SEtoolbox because I was either adding asteroids (not from old versions) or deleting/cleaning up all the starter ships.

    5-7 players testing non-stop for the past few hours.

    Here is what we know.

    OLD SAVE, ALL asteroids removed.

    Old med bays don't work. New med bays from taxis work fine. You can rebuild these taxi med bays in other locations and they continue to function correctly. OLD med bay components (those from a pre-patch save) also produce a failing med bay that does NOT work as a re-spawn point. ONLY new components work.


    OLD SAVE, asteroids from common game and SEtoolbox present. Med bays do not work in any form.


    ONLY game placed asteroids and fresh med bays work correctly 100% of the time. This does not seem to be a bug connected to the current frequency of death cycle re-spawns or spawns that produce a pilot "in the ceiling" or wall.


    EDIT: Spawned a COMPLETELY fresh system. Moved a SINGLE rock a few meters. OLD med bays that were created and powered PRIOR to the rocks movement still worked. NEW medical bays that had been spawned AFTER the rocks movement no longer functioned in any way.


    I will link this post to MIDSPACE, however, this does not appear to be a KEEN problem for at least some portion of the issue.

    This is what happened to me today during my testing. Everything worked until I moved or added an asteroid via SEtoolbox (made sure the asteroid was from a brand new dedicated server map).

    Then once I restarted and rejoined the game, I was in a new starting ship. Suicide a few times and i'm spawning in a new ship every time.

    Only difference between these two situations is that my OLD med bay still did not work after moving asteroids around.

    There may be a deeper root issue here but seems im starting to get reports after random time.. usually hours. and people medical stop working, im running 20 player max, not sure if keys are ties to player limits online .. placing your medical again fixes this for my server and works on login and logout... have not tested staying out for extended time.... addicted... So im going to lower my limits to 16 prepatch limit and test that...


    Please report if anyone has to cycle a new medical after certain time...

    So, a SET issue ? Thanks for this massive testing and feedback. It's unfortunetly bad news, very bad. We've been building this system from a month , daily , could be hundreds of hours now.. I generated 46 asteroids in large distances, there are bases there, mining facilities etc..there are stations and large motherships with medbay rooms. Lack of compatibility render SE unplayable for us now... I don't want to start new server again, we've spent too much time with this one.
    I guess we'll have to play old fashioned way until any patch correcting this problem will emerge.

    Has anyone noticed that some of the worlds do not generate an astronaut file in SEtoolbox? I don't know if this is a separate issue that's been addressed, pretty sure it is but I thought I would mention it. I would load into my game and not be able to do anything, my camera would be fixed, can't go third person (because there is nothing), and cant move or use blocks. I would then use the SEtoolbox feature to 'Repair' the save and it would fix the problem. Nothing regarding the med bay would change though. Just throwing this out there.

    Not to sound like I'm defending SEToolbox (well, I'm biased), but it does not change medbay or SteamIds in any of the content (unless you are exporting a ship to a .sbc file).


    Something else I found.
    After testing my own Dedicated server, there was a SteamId already associated with a Player in the save file, even though the server indicated that no one had connected yet.

    The Default Med bay had this SteamId attached to it also.
    I could not find anything on this Steam Id. Either it doesn't exist, or its marked as private.



    There have been prior bug posts regarding structures that are too close to med bays, which cause the player to not spawn at that location.
    I would imagine that asteroids too close would also cause the same issue.
    Asteroids are asteroids however. There isn't anything in them that should cause med bay spawn issues.
    The only feasible problem that could exist with asteroids are; bounding box (the area overlaps the medbay), and order (the order of items in the save save).
    Testing issues with the order would require loading the SANDBOX_0_0_0_.sbs file, and moving all VoxelMap entries to the top to test, and then the bottom to test again.



    I will point out one critical factor however.
    SEToolbox uses binaries from the "Bin64" directory, and not the "DedicatedServer64".
    (With regards to x86 or 64, the binaries used from the Bin64 directory are marked as AnyCpu, which work on x86 machines just the same.)

    The current version [01.032.018] files from both directories do NOT match.
    The Sandbox.Common.dll, Sandbox.Common.XmlSerializers.dll, VRage.Common.dll, VRage.Library.dll and VRage.Math.dll files all differ, and these are core Space Engineers files.

    I'm not entirely sure that differences are because of obfuscation, but it concerns me that the binaries are significantly different, and may cause differences in the save content between Client and Server.

    The save content from a Dedicated server does not contain a player character.
    If you copied a save from a Dedicated Server to open in the Space Engineers client, you will get what appears to be a floating camera that can pass through anything.
    You can't build stuff, and you have no inventory, or jetpack.

    SEToolbox will correct this issue using the 'Repair', on the assumption you are playing a single player game (because of where the save file content is located).

    Mid I agree this is nothing to do with setoolbox. I did all iv my importing to dedicate editing sbc by hand... Also is is very concerning to me about huge differences... as of right now medical bays work on my server but at any moment at all different intervals they will stop working... either close to objects or in dead space... seems to be something else stuck in the gears of this.
