NOTE: Intended reference is for Survival, not Creative.

With only one hydrogen bottle, one oxygen bottle and suit supplies full, from the planetary surface one can escape the planetary gravity-well, get to Zero-G space, and safely return to the back to the planetary surface.

    STEPS:
    1. With only the above stated inventory, start on planet surface with helmet visor UP (OFF suit oxygen) and set suit dampeners to OFF.
    2. Using suit thrusters, UP thrust until reaching 107 m/s, then stop thrusting until speed drops back to ~50 m/s due to planetary gravity.
    3. Repeat STEP #2 until the oxygen environment goes from HIGH to LOW (about 5000m AGL); then flip helmet visor DOWN (ON suit oxygen).
    4. Keep repeating STEP #2 until zero-G is reached, then turn suit dampeners ON.
    5. Take some nice screen shots; make sure to get a selfie with the planet.
    6. Face the center of the planet and turn suit dampeners OFF.
    7. Thrust forward until reaching 107 m/s, then stop thrusting.
    8. Coast back into planetary gravity (~42km AGL), after which your speed will pick up to 111.5 m/s
    9. When your oxygen environment reads HIGH, flip your helmet visor UP (OFF suit oxygen).
    10. When you are ~500m - 1000m AGL, turn the suit dampeners ON to arrest descent, then safely land using suit thrusters.
The way SE works with thrusters is that thrusters will continue to burn fuel, even after the velocity cap has been reached, for as long as the user keeps inputing thrust; this alone can be a huge waste of fuel. By mitigating that frivolous fuel loss and disabling the dampeners during ascent/descent, one extra bottle of both hydrogen and oxygen are all that is needed.

... and if you nerf jetpack or bottles, making ships manually will become hell.

Yea some kind of holographic ship building terminal which works like creative but only creates a hologram would be nice.

What about two jetpacks, an atmospheric (IE, propeller) pack and a hydrogen pack? You start with the atmo-suit and can upgrade to the Hydrogen suit at a similar tier to the hydrogen thruster? Then the hydrogen thruster can be nerfed in atmosphere so it stays useful in space.

that had initially tried to offset that but it was deemed a failure when players complained it was too hard to do anything with 2 seconds of thrust
