Since the release of multi-player, there has been some concern over griefers and how to deal with them. One option that was suggested was the creation of a "list of griefers" or a player blacklist. This list would contain the SteamIDs of players who commonly enter public servers for the purpose of causing damage and mayhem.

Unfortunately, forum-based blacklists have an enormous potential to be abused. "Witch hunting", flaming, harassment, and false allegations are an almost certain side-effect of maintaining blacklists. Even when there is no malicious intent, it is possible for an innocent player to be wrongfully accused and placed on a blacklist.

As such, the following rules are being placed, effective immediately:

    • No blacklist may be publicly posted. This includes any blacklist maintained by individual players, groups, alliances, or other organization.
    • Blacklists may not be discussed or mentioned. While we cannot control whether a list is created or maintained, they are to be kept entirely off the forums. Posts that mention the existence of a blacklist, or whether an player is on such a list, will be deleted immediately.
    • Whitelists may be discussed, but not posted. Groups and alliances can advertise that they maintain a whitelist for recruitment purposes, but the list may not be posted. Additionally, whether or not a player is on a particular whitelist may not be posted.
    • Players and groups may not be publicly accused. In order to prevent harassment and de-facto blacklisting, players cannot be accused of griefing, hacking, etc, on the public forums. Posts of this nature will be considered personal attacks and deleted immediately. Complaints should be brought to the server admin where the alleged offense occurred.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns you may discuss this policy here.

    Thank you,
    DocTanner
