    The land battleship!

    Armament:
    10-Gatling turrets
    10-Mini Sentries
    3-Missile launchers
4-300mm cannons (non operational in survival due to mod bug)

A big, heavilly armored vehicle with more than enough firepower to dispatch pirate drones. Could be considered more of a mobile weapons platform than a rover. While it can take a beating, it is not reccomended to charge in mad-max style and shoot the crap out of pirate stations as that will open yourself up to a lot of unessccery damage. Best to park outside the bases' range and snipe out the enemy turrets. It is also reccomended to turn off your turrets once external threats have been neutialized or this ship will shoot it to scrap.
To conserve ammo, this vehicle has an economy mode that only turns on the bare minimum amount of turrets to protect itself.
Note: Due to an error in the mod, the 300mm Cannons cannot be fed ammo though small pipes despite having them as their only connections. I have notified the mod author about this. This is also why I'm using the default missle turrets.

This reply will loop back to SE in a paragraph I promise, so not Off topic.

He said that, and I quote "Everything is possible". It is not. I was just showing him that in a problem where the rules were very clearly defined. It is a hard fact that not everything is possible. His quote is not the epitome of engineering, it is the mindless ejaculation of the limited mind. It sounds deep, it appeals to a persons wishes about reality, but it is not reality. one feels wise to say such a thing but thought stops there. We are all as readers supposed to nod our heads and agree with our hearts. look to each other and feel we have reached some truth. But we have not.

There is a reason, linked to SE, that I challenged his deepity. What makes space engineers great is that it is about solving problems. This is only fun because there are limits, things that are not possible. You cannot build a 200 million tonne ship that can be lifted alone by a single 1 Kn thruster. If anything was possible SE would be trivial, a bore. The impossible is a wall that we try to touch, but can't; Yet the reach to stretch our arms to try is the thrilling challenge.

The creations posted here are good because they find ways to solve problems given a universe where some things are impossible.

No need. A derail is to be avoided. All meaning and worth has been put to page above this point from me.

Actually you got specifically what you asked for. You asked to roll a 6-sided die and get a 7. That is possible by making 1 side of the die represent the number 7. You didn't specify that the die has to be able to roll any integer from 1 to 7 and still be 6-sided.
The real issue is your formulation of the problem. If you want a 6-sided die that can roll any integer between 1 and 7 inclusive, you might want to look into non-euclidian geometry. Considering that parallel lines intersect, pretty sure you can find a solution to this problem as well.
In fact it's even simpler. Take a transparent die so that you see both the top and the bottom side of the die when looking at it. Roll it, add up the 2 values you see facing up, you will ALWAYS get a 7, if the numbers on the die are arranged properly.

For your ship problem: build it in space, far enough from celestial objects so that the gravitational pull on the ship is less than 1KN (for SE just make it outside the gravitational well of a planet or a moon). Suddenly you're able to move a 200 million tonn ship with just a single 1KN thruster.

If you don't know the solution to a problem, it doesn't mean there isn't one. It is possible that the solution hasn't been discovered yet, but most likely it does exist.

Well, it has been some time.. but Goliath is close to completion. I got a bit of painting to do on the interior, but other than that he is finished. I'll update my own thread when I am satisfied with the final product.

Also giving my tadpole a little plug in this image. Basically a small ship version of my Bullfrog.

    Concept:

Exterior - Still not happy with the nose cone but it looks like a frog so I achieved what I set out to do.
I chose to scrap the observation deck on top in the end due to the ribbing blocking the view. Might dock a few ships up there. The connectors on the wings and underside go nowhere. They are purely there to charge the batteries in the drones and other large ships it is transporting. There is a connector for resupply in the factory, I took out the Welding pit.

Interior - Due to painting the outside, some of the inside became yellow, so the entire interior is yellow.. gonna fix that over the next couple of days.. so here are a bunch of pre-paint posts.

On the vanishing grid-topic, just recieved a nice hint, have you tried turning off Trash Removal in World Settings? Seems to help i was told...

EDIT: Some testing by myself brought up another thought: If you look at the grids individually, are they all powered?
Looks like on Planet Maps the Space Master is quite eager to remove unpowered stuff... ever tried to paste in a BP without powersource? vanishes in seconds, even when ur fast enought to put a reactor on top of it meanwhile... maybe a related issue?

Heyo just wanted to post my new (still beta skeleton) mobile drilling platform Amynthas - MDP it a vertical drilling rig that can break down and move to the next deposit rather quickly.
Be forewarned this is a vehicle you must pay attention to, not beginner friendly. either way collects 120K worth of raw material per drill. you can drop the post when collasping drilling rig but i suggest damping drop with "up" thruster packs. Make sure draining of raw materials is complete before lowering post. Groups should be set :
Tab 1- braces, and lights (sometimes you must help the braces get under, use grace)
Tab 2 - post tie down release, post rotor, and thruster packs (leave up thruster pack on when drilling)
Tab 3 - piston lock and rotor controls (sometimes one of the rotors gets buggy use the group Post piston lock rotor to ______highlight rotors)(make sure to get both locked on before lying post down)
Tab 4 - drill thruster stabilizers, drill control, and first 7 pistons (use 3 at a time my suggestion but im cautious)

    some pics

I never said I 'worked' the problem. I worked around the problem.
Whether or not you consider that a solution is not relevant to the results.

If the path you are on doesn't lead to an answer to the problem, find a different path.
