Actually, in my experience, adding a lot of artificial mass blocks doesn't help race cars that much. If you don't have any gyros, no matter how many gravity blocks you put, the car will still flip on turns. The only thing i need to test is if increasing mass of the vehicle increases handling at high speeds. Because I'm finding my 4-block car uncontrollable at high speeds.

I quite like those ships of yours. You do a very good job pulling of a sleek effect, especially considering that we're building with cubes. ;)

Hey all, I've been playing this game for quite some time and have finally made a ship that I think is good enough to share, so without further ado, may I present to you my Dagger class Destroyer.

So comments please. What's good about it, what's bad about it, and how can I improve it?

I have been building a base inside an asteroid.. so far I have made a refinery and storage area.. a medical room underneath the runway area and a power room.

This is being done in Survival mode with 2x speed on wielding and grinding.

Thanks :) I cleaned out my Steam Content and uploaded the newest version of the Galaxy today:

Sadly she's faaar away from done. At the moment my Space Dock and repeatedly failing attempts to build a turbolift using the new wheels are keeping me from working on her... that and single digit FPS.

My first offering, since I figured I should really finish something for once.

I'll throw together a separate thread to dump more images in, but the basic run down is as follows. This is the RFA Newcomen, the first in a series of vessels commissioned for the Reconstituted British Empire. She's not much to look at, but I had fun with the gravity.

My first ever survival ship. Was a slow mutation of the respawn yellow ship. 4 Refineries in the middle, landing bay in the back for small landing craft to hand feed ore to the refineries (was before connectors/conveyors). Not an amazing ship but I really enjoyed it as a mobile refinery/command ship for mining.

So this is Harmattan, a heavy industrial hauler.

Living up to its name (Harmattan is also the name of a strong, hot and dry desert wind), the ship is painted in sand color, which in conjunction with heavy armor makes for a neat desert camo-like appearance. It carries 12 large cargo containers, connected with conveyors and accessed by a connector on each side. The power plant is a single large reactor outputting 100 MW, supported by 39 solar panels on top and bottom of the hull. The ship is also pre-fitted with ammo containers and conveyors for defenses. The bridge carries 2 pilots, 2 system control crew, and 10 passengers. At the front, there are 2 medical rooms, a crew storage room, and 2 crew bedrooms/personal rooms. Everything's connected through a system of corridors and passages, separated by doors and guarded by interior turrets for staff safety. 20 ammo containers and 2 fuel containers allow for really long-distance flights, which makes transporting 1.5 million litres of cargo perfectly viable. Also, the ship is designed to be quite compact and rigid, so that it can survive a hard time en route. The Harmattan is not meant to be a military transport ship though, and if it has to pass a war zone on its way, you're better off supporting it with a decent military escort.

My survival-built ship, The Hyperion, completed her first round of refits today. Steam Workshop line here (Includes previous iteration of the Hyperion)

Included in this round of improvements:

    - 4 manned turrets built into the bow of the ship. Based on a design by Sable - Link here.
    - completed aft landing bay
    - Dual-hinge bay door
    - Small-to-large ship merge block docking clamp for fighter
    - Reinforced connection between fore and aft sections
    - Increased gyro and engine count to compensate for increased mass of ship

    Next Round of Refits Planned:

    - Adding landing gear to stabilize turrets for flight in multiplayer. Previous design using connectors was violently unsuccessful.
    - Remove landing gear docking clamps from main flight bay and replacing with small-to-large ship merge blocks.
    - Remodel currently unused interior space of port and starboard hull for hangar space. Relocate and reroute all storage to more protected center hull.
    - Add bay doors to all hangars

Currently the ship still lacks sufficient armor on a number of key areas, but revising and enhancing the ship's armor will be the last step once all other enhancements are in place and functioning. Hopefully a method is provided to fire the missile turrets remotely to allow the ship to be skeleton-crewed.

Just got the Worker Bee v3 up and running:

    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=286654731

Designed to combine the precision & efficiency of a specialized design, with the versatility of a modular one. We have 4 craft so far under the version 3 system, and over 15 work modules.
Be sure to check out the V3m, which can swap out cargo pods as well as work modules.

(also contains a back catalogue of my small utility ship designs.)

My freshly-created Heavy destroyer, using modified variants (added connector capability) of my advanced turret modules ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=279164101 )

    Slideshow:
    http://s1153.photobucket.com/user/Sable_Sonata/slideshow/Large%20Ships/Unnamed%20BSI%20Heavy%20Destroyer%20MkI

Designed for a crew of at least 4 (1 pilot, 3 gunners), as well as housing 4 Trilobite Interceptors (and their pilots), and more than enough seats to have a full crew, interceptor pilots, and several security personnel. All turrets are capable of being reloaded by the gunners without leaving the cockpit, and the destroyer boasts 69 gatling turrets on AMS duty while its turrets dish out the damage with a hail of rockets. 4 med bays will ensure that boarders will have a difficult time taking the ship, assuming they manage to get close enough to board in the first place.

For reference, here is the Destroyer next to my previous largest completed ship, the Estoc Mk. III:

A project I've just finished retooling with todays update for batteries/capacitors is my Weasel ship - which some of you might recognize.

[IMG] Weasel Mk 2. (Mod A)

This thing has been inspired by a few ship designs on the workshop, but it has the standard array of tools to be fixed to the front merge blocks, with a healthy carrying capacity and powerful engine array to help it scoot about. I'm overall quite proud of the design, ripped off though parts might be from other designs.

In all it (and the workshop file) has 3 variants:

The Mk 2, the original after prototype concept testing.
The Mod Alpha, the original design, with an updated internal cargo space for the pilot - separated from the working cargo space to prevent misplacement of tools or needed components.
And the Mod Beta, a version replacing the Large Reactor of the design with a bank of six small reactors and five batteries/capacitors.

It also comes with the standard array of tools: Welder, Grinder and Drills. On top of these, it has a weapons pod inspired by the design used by Breeze for his Bumblebee work-ship, and a cargo module with a set of solar panels and multiple merge points to potentially link together multiple Weasels.

[IMG] Long range cargo module/auxilliary charging station.

I have yet to do extensive survival testing with the latest update, however the original version is highly capable and efficient for it's small size.

If anyone wants a closer look, everything I've mentioned is repeated in (in character) detail over on The Workshop.
