Update 0.4.10 - New Girl in Town

    Summary
    Hello, Engineers! This week we're introducing the first iteration of our quest system to the game. Our first implementation is for the tutorials. They are automatically started in every survival game, providing players a hand on getting started. Right now, there is no way to cancel this quest, but in the future we will introduce a way to manage this. Additionally, we are introducing an update to the female engineer, as well as the deer animations. We think you will enjoy playing as the female engineer even more.



    Features
    - Introduction of the quest system. Right now, it only provides an in-game tutorial which we will use to monitor how well the system works and how well it is received. Please provide us lots of feedback about it. Right now, it is not intended to be modded, so please withhold modding it until we have a more finalized version. We will add a Quest tag on the workshop once we are satisfied.
    - Female engineer updated.

    Fixes & Improvements
    - Added spawning in morning area on all planets.
    - Updated deer animations to fix glitches in the animation.
    - Added randomized character gender when starting a new game.
    - Placing the last small block from your inventory will now deactivate the builder.
    - Fixed UVs on wooden floor block.
    - Fixed tooltips when looking at plants.
    - Fixed tooltips when looking at small blocks.
    - Fixed compound dummies on walkways and wooden wall.
    - Fixed minimal HUD sometimes loading as active. Game will never start without HUD now. You can still turn it off manually.

    ME Update 0.4.10.94610:
    Fixes:

    - Fixed some crashes in the quest system.
    - Fixed a crash with the compass.

    Amazing stuff, was wondering how you was going to implement a quest system.
    With not opening the quests to modding, that is a wise move this early on with the system.

    it fixed the tool durability bar? [ because if it didn't i am going to make some sort of reverse sexist comment that y'all tweaked the female character before you tweaked my tool. easy. all day long. ]

    Good timing. I finished Halcyon 6 last week. Now that ME has a tutorial, I think I may be able to play Survival with some clue as to what I'm doing.:pbjt:

    Would ingame created quests be a possibility? I understand that this quest system allows scripted events, but you will eventually have to use something like the SE Visual Scripter to do it.

    Ingame quests assigned by players 'Gather X', 'Claim Y', 'Build Z', 'Hunt A', 'Protect B', 'Goto C' (Can't think of other types for right now).

    A 'workboard' craftable item would make it accessible.

    For example, if I need 20 iron ores:
    • I go to the board
    • Add New Quest
    • Type: 'Gather', Amount: 20, Type: Iron Ore (Like Space master list of materials)
    • Offer: X (maybe gold or whatever currency/items or 'reknown/reputation' - maybe claim blocks generate reputation over time that can be used for this type of situation)
    Players could then create their own 'quests' ingame vs scripted game components.

    Would make trading/mercantile jobs and a lot more a possibility.

    @Helaton,
    Would be interesting to teir the hostile spawns to claim reputation as well, larger buildings+more rep = crazy barbarian spawns(in theory).


    Great looking update, cant wait to see/make fleshed out quests in the future :D

    Are you sure its female now ? It can be a TRAP!, meybe its shaved engineer with long hair ;)
    BUG: Female engineer B90-W60-H90 + long hair NOT FOUND


    Seriosly: F1 help and in game typs need update too... some dont work and it must be hard find it for new players. :tu: ( for example how you change time of day in creative mod now ? ??? )

    Sounds nice, a quest system. One clarification though, I suppose the tutorial quest only starts in newly created and started survival games and not in a saved survival game that's continued from a save file?

    Anyway, keep 'm coming guys. ;)

    I just wanted to say I think you are really doing an excellent job deepflame at reviving the ME community's hope for ME. It took a bad turn at one point, but you've restored my faith. Thank you keep up the excellent work.
