KEEN may wants the playerbase of ME disintegrate and be forgotten in the end. But at what cost? TRUST.

An update that addresses bug from the last fix will bring many back. An update that includes beasts of burden will bring in a whole new playerbase. Just one good update and ME will be back.

Proof of their existence in the scene of Medieval Engineers - https://support.keenswh.com/medievalengineers/topic/the-taint-is-between-the-anus-and-the-testicles

Keen, all of us in the community demand some type of communication about ME future development, if it is just on the back burner or if you guys have bailed. Please show us some respect and give us a roadmap, eta of an update to address the bugs that I've personally reported over a year ago which still exist as well as for many other bug reports. A simple "we're working on things.. we don't have time ... or we bailed like we did in MinerWars." anything to let us know would be greatly appreciated.

No, don't say "anything" because within the last month Marek has posted in his blog and said live during streams that they have not abandoned ME, they have pooled all their resources into getting SE Xbox out the door, and they plan to release something for ME relatively shortly. That counts as "anything" so your prayers have been answered.

You've gotten information. They don't give out roadmaps because if they deviate one iota they get vilified. They're used to people being upset when they keep their mouths shut, and they are not alarmed by players threatening to play something else and taking their friends with them.

They have something planned for after the Xbox thing goes live. They believe what they are doing will spark renewed interest. We shall see.

Well considering that Stardriver907 and Thales M are (im)patiently waiting and interested for an update, I doubt they'll leave them in the dust with a dead ME.

People are basing their apprehension on how other developers have behaved. For the most part, KSH has not done things the way others have, and they still have Miner Wars in their history, which no one will let them forget.

I am patiently waiting because I want Keen's staff to take their time and seriously evaluate their approach to an engineering game based in a time period known in Europe as Medieval. I can tell that many of the people that post here just want some bugs fixed. Not me. I want a complete overhaul. That takes effort, and time.

I have over 9600 hours playing SE. I have maybe an hour in ME. The difference is the "engineering" part. One can argue that there is engineering in SE. There is none in ME. None. I hope they are working on that. If they're not they're wasting their time.

So, no, I'm not impatiently waiting for something, anything. I am patiently waiting for an ME that works more like SE.

    I can wait.

That is awesome news indeed, do you happen to have a link of that? Plans for 2020 on Marek's blog didn't mention anything about ME. It would have been a nice confirmation to see something posted there

No, and I don't need one. I was interested enough to watch the streams he's participated in recently, and though I am not even remotely interested in when ME will get attention, I managed to hear him say they are working on ME and will have something for us, probably after April when the Xbox thing goes live.

He didn't promise. Didn't get a pinky swear. Marek and his staff have never promised an exact date for anything since Miner Wars. You know this. Those of us that enjoy SE suffered a great deal when ME was launched. ME was getting all the attention, and the forums buzzed with people saying SE has been abandoned. Mostly because Keen kept quiet. That's how they work. Should be used to it by now.

I hit the "follow" button for Keen Community Network the day it went live. The past broadcasts are there. There are links to Marek's blog all over the place. I'm not doing your homework for you. I've seen what they have written, and I have observed them live on Twitch. Having done that, I am satisfied that ME is still very much alive at KSH. Besides, abandoning ME does not make much sense. It's a good product.

Marek is not going to come to your house and personally explain it to you. You should seek information where it is and not hope to be filled in by someone like me posting in a thread. One of these days there will be an update to ME and everyone will be happy again. It'll be soon.

How soon? Not soon enough. That's how soon.

    ;)

Yesterday was our first anniversary. A whole year of no updates.
If what Marek says is true, that they're going to focus on ME once SE XBox (note the very important space between SE and XBox!) is live, I presume that our next ME update might be on May 21st - our other anniversary, the day they officially informed us about Deepflame's departure/apotheosis.

Update: Yes it has been abandoned/finished. You stated you heard Marek say it wasn't abandoned in a blog yet could be not be proved or linked nor found after watching his recent blogs.

Here is proof for some closure.

Also I quote from their post

"Q: I am not happy that you stopped developing Medieval Engineers
A: For us, Medieval Engineers is a complete project. We are sorry that we cannot continue development. Do not hesitate to reach out to us at support@keenswh.com.

Q: Are you coming back to Medieval Engineers? In other words, should we expect more updates in the upcoming months?

A: We have decided to focus on one project at a time. Our immediate focus is Space Engineers for PC and our upcoming release of Space Engineers for Xbox. We do not currently plan further major updates for Medieval Engineers. Medieval Engineers has been a great project for us."

@shortybsd look at the dates those were posted that was way before Marek announced ME had been stopped. :)

Also if you look at the post where they announced they (Keen) had gotten new office space, that blog did sound semi-promising for ME. Again that posting was before the announcing of ME being stopped (obviously) :)

Yes. I assured you that KSH would not abandon such a valuable asset. It appears that I was wrong about that. I am astounded beyond belief. For that reason I'm no longer going to discourage accusations that appear to me to be baseless. I don't work for Keen, so I leave it to them to explain themselves.

Or not, as is what seems to be the official stance.

Boy. You think you know someone, and then...

Still hoping that it's just a premature April Fool's joke.
But it's more likely that on April 1st they'll announce a new update and be like APRIL FOOLS, LOSERS!! the next day and ride away on they (very clangy) skateboards.
    --- Automerge ---
Sadly, it did (almost) exactly become the next Cube World:
    • Huge potential
    • Voxel based (although different kinds of voxels)
    • Good sales in the beginning
    • Vivid, loving, excited, loving community
    • Sudden stop in development for flimsy reasons
    • Long, dreadfully silent hiatus
    • Suddenly leaving early access, end of development once and for all
    • Hey presto, the "final release" is pretty much a huge buggy sh!t fest (although admittedly, this was already the case shortly before the hiatus for ME)
    • The game is worse than it used to be
    Also:
    • Players got pretty scammed before by the dev
    • The dev stopped caring about / listening to the player base
All that is missing here is emotional blackmailing by Mr Marek resulting in a playerbase split in three factions: The Principality of "Boo, get this man in jail", the Shire of "Don be big fat meanies to poor dev-dev, he has depwessions uwu" and the Grand D(o)uchy of "lol, time to grab some popcorn and watch these mongrels bash their heads in, it's better than the actual game anyway".

    J'accuse.

I am totally done supporting KEEN myself. I do love SE but 3 abandoned games now I just can't keep feeding them money so they can continue down the same path.
