Already got a code up that makes Suicide Ships attack the Cargo Ships. Going to launch 10 of them at a Military Transporter. :)

"can't learn it" What a poisonous attitude my friend, if you are not even willing to learn something new, then, do not expect others to stop moving forward for you. Complaining about a new feature you cannot currently use is a waste of your time and everyone else's.

C# Isn't just an other useless mechanic the game is trying to force you to learn, it is a universal codding language with limitless possibility that would open many doors if you take the time to learn it correctly. Think of it as an opportunity!

You obviously have a computer and access to the internet. There are MANY sources of information related to coding on Google, Start small and take your time.

I don't see what people are bitching about not knowing C#. Seems to me you have two choices:

1) Learn some rudimentary C#, which wouldn't hurt you in the real world.

2) Continue playing the game just as you have been playing it before the update.

Think ahead, the game isn't even in beta yet, for all we know C# is just a temporary language. Writing a new one takes.. a while. No need to get your jimmies all rustled up over this just.

Except one thing, the only things you can do from the programming block coincide with what you can do from a timer block, only with a bit more advanced features. There are many things you can and can't do in this game that others can or cant do. I personally can't make anything that looks even remotely good. I can make awesome Death Cubes though, and im fine with that. NOBODY is good at everything, despite what some believe. I will note though I can take that ship someone else made look good, and make it just as deadly as my death cube :p

There needs to be a function for every kind of a container (as in object with storage space, so assemblers, refineries as well as cargo containers) to check if they contain stuff. So you can make a ship that creates ammo if your turrets run out of it.

1. Not sure what you mean by "fully play the game".

2. Who says that it will be "a fundamental aspect of the game" in general? To some, fiddling with rotors, pistons and timers is a fundamental aspect of the game. Others get by perfectly fine without it.

3. Never say never.

4. Not sure if I understand you correctly, but are you implying that because of your lack of self-confidence and/or motivation to learn basic scripting, everyone else should be denied this awesome feature?

5. Have you ever even tried to get into basic scripting?

6. Ability to share scripts is already included.

I didn't expect a patch on Christmas and certainly didn't expect one on New Years. Above and beyond, Keen! Thanks!

Personally, I don't know much about coding and I'm excited to see the scripts that come out and then dissect them to learn some coding myself.

You should make easier programing like:
Piston2-reverse
or
Piston2(reverse)

Using Names of blocks and next their function is much easier for newbie in programing.

This is another update I can't really process in one go. Gonna take a while to grasp its significance.

I really recommend to setup a Visual Studio, add the Sandbox.Common.dll, to have full Intellisens:

Does that suck? No way, bro.

The more creative, deadly and unexpected enemies are on a pvp server the more I quiver with giddy anticipation. My faction grows bored of consuming banana boats (though an excellent source of thruster components and potassium). Think of the unknown, the Borg, Droid Armies, Cybernetic-Hacker-Pirates... The Shadow of Kobal Privateers welcome the challenge. :thumb:

PS: If you can't code (like I can't), recruit a :comp: to your faction who can... this is sandbox immersion and realism at its finest.

I was hoping for optimizations. I have a beefy computer but no matter what server I join, with or without mods, fresh or old, the sim speed is always .2-.6. Thats just too low to bother joining a multiplayer server. Locally I get the perfect 1 but of course I would. I want to join servers and play but I don't want to be stuck crawling ><

7. Never say never... Again (had to)

8. programing in general is like making a step b step instruction manual, it isn't supper science, once you know syntax and the general rules, you can do most things

Yay, Coding. Sim speed issue seems a bit more pressing to me though. Tons of servers are virtually unplayable right now and adding a bunch of scripts isn't going to make things better.

I thought AI would be added today, since it was New years Day today, But this Programmable Block seems interesting, better get reading those "Coding for Dummies" Books :D
BTW, found a way of getting Old worlds to Exploration :D

Is there a sleep/timer function? If not, how often does the main function execute? Does it loop in a constant interval?

Programming, one of the things I'm pretty much useless at. I know brackets open and close arguments and stuff...I'm almost hopeless when it comes to Java but I can do a bit of HTML. Don't have the mind for it. Never mind, some day. Maybe this will help? Thanks for the updates Keen. Didn't expect any these past couple of weeks!

Whoa didn't expect an update this week! You guys rock.

Would it be possible to add a data block that can store a limited size of information?

well one cool thing, we'll eventually get an easier version for when they put this on the xbone.

I wish Keen would hold off on adding more stuff to a broken game and focus on fixing the issue with connected grids moving and stopping at different speeds. When two grids are connected both grids should be replaced with one grid or the second smaller grid should have all physics removed until they are separated or find some way that Large grids and Small grids can coexist under one grid. FIX THE ROTORS AND PISTONS SO THEY WORK ON SHIPS TOO. SHIPS THAT MOVE. SHIPS THAT MOVE FAST.
