Update 01.154 DEV - Configurable Block Limits & Performance Warnings

    Summary
    Hello Engineers! Today's update brings more important bug fixes and improvements - configurable block limits & performance warnings were added to the game, primarily to help server admins maintain their servers more easily. These limits can be set up in the server configurator for dedicated servers, or in world settings for singleplayer and multiplayer. Another addition is improved NPC pathfinding for wolves and sabiroids.
    We’ve also got another Dev diary - this time we are revealing the upcoming visual scripting tool. One of our level designers, Jochem, will try to show you how designers are utilizing this new tool. We have no doubts that our community will be able to create some amazing scenarios when the visual scripting releases. In the meantime, our designers will continue to help improve the tool by requesting new features and reporting issues.



    Features
    - Configurable block limits & Performance warnings (Guide: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=767867448 )
    - New NPC (Sabiroids and wolves) Pathfinding system (using Recast&Detour)

    Bugfixes

    - improved camera tilting and moving with astronaut
    - improved issue with camera yaw changing when swapping between spectator and first person camera
    - improved fire particles
    - fixed rifle scoped in bug where you would stay scoped in with tools after using the rifle
    - fixed blueprints sometimes switching between two places for no reason
    - fixed decal on damaged medical stations
    - removed un-ended lines in dedicated server log
    - removed Armor Slope that was displayed twice in G-Screen
    - removed Conveyor Tube that was displayed twice in G-Screen
    - fixed issue with realistic warhead sound not being played
    - fixed air tight hangar door sound in depreressurized mode
    - fixed collision sounds in realistic mode with ships and grids crashing into voxel

    Hotfixes Development version 1.154.004:
    - Fixed an audio loop leak that led to computer shutting down
    - Fixed a bug that caused a crash after editing the block type in the configuration for a dedicated server to something other than a valid option
    - Fixed a log crash that occurred after closing the game
    - Fixed sound related crash
    - Fixed Performance Warnings performance issue

    How does the new npc and pathfinding system affect the sabreroids and wolves tho, there wasn't any info on it in the video.

    Seems like a really good update! The visual scripting looks promising und Aragath did a good job explaining it :tu:

    And i think Rotal is happy about the block limit update :p

    Sigh I was secretly hoping that they would some how have more complex behavior than they have now. :( It would make gameplay more interesting than just fending off the horde of dogs.

    So much to help admins, stability of the servers and can do very interesting things in the gameplay. Thank you very much keen, i have been waiting long loong time for this.

    A recommendation for the future... add the per faction limit option.

    Well adding to what I Just said about the more complex behavior. Ive read the readme file in the link to recast and retour. It sounds like its possible to create on spacial awareness which would be pretty damn cool. I can imagine a wolf trying to find the player in his station and once found will try and attack him. No more from across the map knowing exactly where the player is, which is extremely annoying not only for fauna but for the npc pirate drones.

    We're probably going to need a way to delete our existing creations, along with bits of old creations that are drifting through space (like a limited space master mode), but this is the start of something that'll make the game work for everyone!

    Second edit: finished reading the post. Apparently that's already done. Awesome!

    Go to the Info tab in the terminal while you're not in a cockpit. There you can delete blocks you own -- if the server has that setting on.

    Block Limits. You have my attention.

    Unfortunate phrasing.

    I do like the on-screen counter; sadly the crash limits are so variable they might as well be random so i doubt this will help big ships too much. Great for servers, i guess.
    I also enjoy the idea of the info-screen. I'll have to fiddle around with that one to see if it's useful.

    Yes. The block type limit settings on server has a drop down list that includes all the stock blocks, but you can type in name of the modded block ("BlockPairName" in its definition) and it'll work for it.
