killer doors after small update

    This is still a problem. I just got killed before enabling invulnerability. Now, I just get punted 200m away, but can't get back into my ship legitimately.

    This is a huge issue, If I decide to cruise thru space in my huge ship and want to go outside then I better stop the ship first. If the ship is moving then the doors insta kill me, no good. Basically if you want to fly around and work on your ship while traveling thru space then you better stop....

    I had this happen to me over the weekend, on a mobile large grid attached to static large grid (my donut base...) And I was completely unable to even go near the door. It would kill me if I got within 2 blocks of it. I noticed that after dying and seeing the respawn screen, the mobile grid in question was shaking slightly like desync'd things tend to do.

    So I accessed the remote control block, turned off the connector and moved the mobile large grid off its connecting platform to be free-floating and the door problem went away.

    This is quite the annoying problem when it's happening though... so bump. This issue is not quite fixed.

    Yep it seems that if the object with doors has any momentum then the physics or the game engine in general doesn't place them in the right place,. I am playing in an offline world so desync due to server lag isn't the issue but momentum of any kind + doors = insta death. I experienced the same thing with getting too close to the door, just stepping on the block next to the door kills me as well. It's almost like if the door is moving then the game gets confused as to it's actually location and is invisible moving it around the spot it is supposed to be. Pretty annoying since I built a massive ship that is airtight in all of its compartments but it might as well be a station at this point since walking thru it while it's moving means certain death.

    Personally I can make it happen 100% of the time,. Large ship, throttle up to Max, disable inertia dampers, make sure there is artificial gravity, and walk up to a door and try to use it.

    In the world I sent you (latest version) if all of the ships at my asteroid base a connected, the doors on the connected ships have the issue upon reconnecting to the server. I don't know if it's every time, but once it does it, each player will experience it.

    I am having an issue with doors killing me as well. If you are invulnerable you will be bounced back instead of killed. This is only happening to me with doors from mods and only when the ship is moving and is 100% reproducible for me. Vanilla doors do not have this problem as far as I can tell. I have tried this with a few different door mods:

    I reproduced this by using a single door mod and the red ship from the easy start scenario.

    Was just playing on a server, where everything was fine the last days ... but today I die almost everytime, I walk through doors (Vanilla). Its no difference if I walk in my base or in my locked ship. If the door don't kill me, it bounces me away.

    Update: Grinding down one killer door and building it up again solved the problem

    The problem I described doesn't seem to be fixed by grinding down the doors and rebuilding them as commented above. When you stand in the block you are sent flying in the opposite direction the ship is moving as if you weren't standing in the ship anymore.

    Guys, are you using 200m/s speed mods?
    Because i'm observing it then you moving on 200m/s and rotating the ship
    Also, if you using speed mod with speed >200m/s doors becoming "killers" then you reaching 200m/s

    Nope, I don't use any speed mods and was reproducing this issue using just a single door mod and moving the ship forward at around 30m/s. Uploaded a world here if you want to take a look: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1124213754

    Just spawn on the red ship medical room, i put in arrows point out the door and the ship is in motion at around 35m/s.

    Well.. I'm not really surprised about this door killing players...

    Purple outlines is Havok's rigit bodies. Looks like render is misaligned a bit, but it still shows that is going on.


    Looks like author need to take a look on this creation. It clearly broken. Why - is different question. Probably author need to investigate in and create proper bugreport.

    well keen made some changes to all doors but they dont tell us what exactly got changed and what a modder may have to do to fix it (i asked about it in a bug report but it is ignored as many other issues that involve modding)

    Thanks for looking into this. Hopefully some sort of systemic fix can be found since it affecting a lot of mods with various authors. It seems to be any door that doesn't just slide open to the sides has this problem, also seems to be affecting some windows with shutters, etc.

    This evil sliding killer door killed me several times today...

    @I23I7, Keen really, really need to return physics debug view in back terminal view. Urgently and unavoidable.

    Currently it located it Shift+F12 menu and available only in creative mode.
